According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are hoping a huge offer for Kalidou Koulibaly can swing negotiations in their favour, with Chelsea also interested in the defender.

The Blues could be on the lookout for a new centre back this summer if John Stones ends up departing the club.

Manchester City are reportedly keen on the England international, with Pep Guardiola eyeing him as the perfect addition to his defensive line up.

The Liverpool Echo report that they are set to make a move in the coming week, and the player is reportedly keen to join them before he starts pre-season.

Should that happen, Ronald Koeman has identified Napoli star Koulibaly as an ideal replacement.

However, Premier League rivals Chelsea are also interested and are understood to have made progress in their attempts to sign him. But the Liverpool Echo reports that Everton are hoping that a huge offer can swing negotiations in their favour.

They have the backing of Farhad Moshiri this summer and are clearly keen to spend those funds to improve their squad after two disappointing years under Roberto Martinez.
