Liverpool midfielder Lucas has shared to the club’s official website the message that Jurgen Klopp gave them at half time in the friendly win over Fleetwood Town.

The Reds took on the League One side on Wednesday in their second pre-season friendly this summer.

It proved to be an impressive outing for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as they ran out comfortable 5-0 winners, despite fielding different teams in each half.

It was their second pre-season win after beating Tranmere Rovers last week, in what will be an important summer as Klopp looks to further implement his desired style at the club.

And Lucas says his message at half time was to keep up the highest tempo possible.

“It [the message] was just to try to play at the highest tempo possible,” he told liverpoolfc.com.

“At the end of the day we want to win the game and improve our fitness levels. You can only do that if you go for it and don’t save yourself, so that’s what he said to us at half-time and I think we tried to do that.”

The Brazilian has also shared his delight after finding the back of the net with a rare strike.

The midfielder drilled home from close range to make it 3-0 following some excellent work from Ryan Kent and Roberto Firmino.

It was his first competitive goal in six years, with the last one coming in a clash with Steaua Bucharest at Anfield back in September 2010.

“It’s good to score after quite a while,” he added.

“It was a good feeling, I’ve been feeling good and training really hard and hopefully I will have a good season ahead of me.”
