Tottenham Hotspur are said to want a new pacy winger but in a few years they could have one of the best in the country.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is now hoping to add a pacy winger to his squad following deals to bring Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen to White Hart Lane.
That is no surprise when you consider the options currently available to him in wide positions, with only Erik Lamela impressing last season (although even he still has his critics).
Pochettino will be hoping to further strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes; however in the short term there is an exciting option that could give yet another Tottenham teenager the chance to shine.
Keanan Bennetts is well known to those Tottenham fans who keep a close eye on the academy, having shone at a variety of age levels and impressed after making his under-21 debut last season.
In fact in just three appearances for the second string, the 17-year-old already has one goal and one assist, and his pace and technique are such that he looks destined for a bright future in the game.
Next season will be too soon for Bennetts to make any real impact on the first-team and he is likely to continue his development with Tottenham’s under-21s. That said there could be a chance for him to impress during Spurs’ pre-season campaign, especially with some of the senior stars on extended breaks following their international duties.
Pre-season is a chance for youngsters to shine and to stake a claim for the future and Bennetts has all the hallmarks to dazzle.
