The Aston Villa defender has been out of action since November.
The 22-year-old missed more than half of his first season at Aston Villa after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury on international duty with France Under-21 in November.
He missed the 8-0 friendly win over Graz last Saturday with what he claims to be have been a "niggle", but the French defender has intimated that he will likely be fit when the season starts on August 7.
"Roberto and his coaching team have worked us very hard and we’re in good shape now going into the pre-season friendlies on home soil,” he told Aston Villa's website.
"I missed the GAK Graz game with a little niggle on Saturday but I was back in training on Tuesday so I’m feeling positive, confident and fit heading into this next important period."
Aston Villa fans will love the news. He appeared to be rather clumsy in his opening few months as a Villa player, but the jet-heeled left-back also looked to be equally exciting and supporters will be looking forward to seeing him in action next term.
Roberto Di Matteo kicks off his reign as manager in 24 days time when the Villans travel to Sheffield Wednesday, who were beaten finalists in the Championship playoff in May.
And Villa supporters would love if the French rocket was on the bus to Yorkshire that day.
