Small Cap M&A review H1 16: Thomson Reuters

Worldwide announced Small-Cap M&A deals valued up to $50 million (including undisclosed value deals) totaled US$72.0 billion in the first half of 2016 – a 3.2% decrease year-on-year.

The Asia-Pacific (ex Central Asia) region (by target domicile) led the Small-Cap market, with US$37.7 billion of announced deal activity.

Europe (by target domicile) led the market in the number of deals announced, with 6,899 transactions for the first half of 2016, representing 36.4% of the 18,935 deals announced worldwide.

The High Technology sector captured 15.5% of total announced Small-Cap value deals, followed by Industrials and Financials, each respectively registering 12.2% and 11.7% of the overall market.

KPMG tops the worldwide Mid-Market rankings for deals valued up to $50 million in the first half of 2016, working on 146 deals with a combined value of $503.8 million.
