Rangers are closing in on the signature of Leicester City talent Joe Dodoo, The Mail report.

Dodoo is out of contract but expected to sign an extension with the Foxes before signing with Rangers on a season long loan deal.

Dodoo hit the headlines with a hat-trick in the Capital One Cup last season for the Foxes against Bury, but found it tough to break into the first team during Leicester's incredible Premier League title winning season.

With Leicester signing Nigerian striker Ahmed Musa, Dodoo's opportunities are likely to be just as limited next season, and a move to Rangers makes sense.

Gers boss Mark Warburton has a proven track record of developing players, and at 21, Dodoo is at a stage where he needs to play regular football.

He has a better chance of doing this at Rangers, although he may not be the only striker the Light Blues bring in.

Dodoo is a prospect who hopes to progress at the club, but Rangers need a more established front man if they are to stand a better chance of winning the title in the first campaign back in the top flight since 2012.
