Queens Park Rangers appear to be closing in on the signing of Charlton Athletic midfielder Jordan Cousins, with manager Russell Slade confirming his imminent exit.

While Slade refused to name Cousins' destination, the South London Press reports that the 22-year-old will complete a move to Loftus Road this week.

Earlier this month, HITC reported that while the R's had had a bid turned down for Cousins, who is also interesting Championship quintet Norwich City, Leeds United, Ipswich Town, Reading and Fulham, an improved bid was expected from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side.

And after the Addicks academy graduate was left out of his side's friendly defeat against Bromley on Tuesday Slade told the South London Press: "There is something imminent (regarding Cousins) but until it is done I would be rather foolish to say he is going here, there or somewhere else."

Despite his young age, Cousins has amassed over 125 appearances at Championship level and earned his first call up to England's Under-21 squad earlier this year.

He signed a new four-year deal at the Valley in July 2015, though Charlton's subsequent relegation has left them leaving a miracle to keep their star man.

The South London Press reports that another Addicks midfielder, Johan Berg Gudmundsson, will complete a move to Charlton once returned from his post-Euro 2016 break.
