Playing for contracts? Six Celtic stars who've entered their final year

These Celtic players will be looking to earn new Parkhead deals.

It could be big season ahead for the following six Celtic stars, whose futures beyond next summer are unclear.

Will any of them earn new deals?...

Kris Commons

Many believe Commons was under-used by Ronny Deila, but with his 33rd birthday just around the corner Celtic are likely to fancy a younger model. Hibernian are said to have made a loan bid for the attacking midfielder, who allegedly wants to fight for his place (Evening Times). While he might well last the season, he'll need a stellar campaign to stay beyond it.

Stefan Johansen

Galatasaray's interest has apparently cooled, with the Bhoys said to have demanded £3 million (Turkish reports). Manager Brendan Rodgers admitted this week it makes no sense to allow Johansen's contract to run down - though at that price the Norwegian is going nowhere.

Efe Ambrose

But for a defensive crisis Ambrose might have been flogged already. The Nigerian was heavily implicated in the Red Imps debacle and is unlikely to be kept on next term - if he even makes it that far.

Tom Rogic

Celtic have already opened talks with Rogic (Daily Mail) and while they'll be desperate to keep the Australia international, it could be a struggle with several clubs keen. They might look to cash in if no breakthrough is made soon.

Leonardo Fasan

On the bench in Gibraltar, courtesy of Logan Bailly's suspected broken ankle, Fasan is set to be Rodgers' number 2 for the foreseeable future - barring the arrival of a new keeper. Even so, it's always handy to have reserves, though at 22, the Italian may have an eye on first team games elsewhere should his contract come up for discussion.

Eoghan O'Connell

The aforementioned defensive crisis might give O'Connell the chance he needs to impress. However, the Bhoys' stance will be made clear if Ambrose continues to get the nod ahead of him.
