Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm has told the club's official website that Vincent Janssen's goalscoring record speaks for itself and backed the striker to be a perfect fit at White Hart Lane.

Janssen became Spurs' second signing of the summer, following the arrival of midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton, when he joined from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in a £17 million deal earlier this week.

The 22-year-old striker has been a scoring sensation in his native Netherlands, hitting 32 goals in 74 second-tier games before netting 31 times in all competitions in his only Eredivisie season with AZ.

He has now been brought in by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino to provide competition and a potential partner for Premier League golden boot winner Harry Kane as the North London club look to challenge for the title again this season.

Janssen's Dutch compatriot Vorm believes that Spurs have got themselves a top player in the making and has backed the man who has three goals in five caps for his country to fit right in at White Hart Lane.

Vorm told the club's official website: "Obviously when you score 27 goals in the Dutch Eredivisie you’re a good player. Vincent is someone who has improved himself every year and that says something about his potential and his mentality. He’s shown already that his mentality is right and that’s very important, especially with the way we work here.

"As a young, talented player I think he will fit straight into our philosophy. He obviously knows where the goal is, he can shoot very well with both feet, he’s very strong with a good shot and he has an amazing work ethic. He’s a striker who can play with his back to goal, too.

"We’re talking about a young, hungry, talented Dutch international who has scored a lot of times already so I think he’s a very good signing."

Janssen certainly has the talent and the firepower in his boots to succeed, and it will now be about how well he adapts to life in English football.

He will be hoping he can follow in the footsteps of his new teammates including Vorm, Toby Alderweireld, and Christian Eriksen in proving to be a success in the Premier League.
