Dodoo is currently on trial at Rangers, although it is unclear whether the youngster will be moving on a permanent move or in a loan deal.
Dodoo has been targeted by Rangers, as Mark Warburton looks to strengthen his attacking options at Ibrox.
Rangers currently have Martyn Waghorn and Kenny Miller battling it out for a striking place, but Warburton is known to want to strengthen up-front before the competitive campaign gets underway.
Dodoo is still a relatively unknown quantity, with most his first-team experience coming on loan at Bury.
However, Ranieri’s words about Dodoo to the Daily Mail, after he scored in the League Cup last term should offer encouragement that the forward could make a big impact in Glasgow.
“He's very smart and he was ready to shoot at goal. Joe is good because he can smell the goal,” Ranieri said.
'When he shoots at goal he is very dangerous, and he had another chance to score. Very good.
“I'm very happy with him and excited because he's a very attentive lad and often I speak with him about his best position, how to attack and how to defend. I'm very happy with him.”
If Dodoo does move to Rangers he could become Warburton’s side ninth signing of the summer so far.
Rangers have acted quickly to strengthen their squad, as they aim to mount a title challenge in their first season back in Scottish Premiership.
