Where will Leicester City's N'Golo Kante be plying his trade come the start of next season?

Premier League legend and former France international Claude Makelele has told The Sun that his countryman N'Golo Kante needs to move to one of Europe's elite clubs to fulfil his potential.

The former Chelsea man is a big fan of Kante and spoke of his admiration for the Leicester City star, telling the newspaper: “I don’t want N’Golo Kante to be compared with me.

"Kante can be Kante. I want him to be more than me, but I love to watch him play because you can see in him the joy."

Kante's release clause in his contract with the Foxes is rumoured to be around £20 million, which would be an absolute steal if he eventually leaves the King Power Stadium, for whoever ends up acquiring his signature.

French news outlet Le Parisien have even gone so far as to claim that a deal has been agreed between Chelsea and Leicester regarding the purchase of the Frenchman.

He would be the ideal signing for Antonio Conte and would instantly energise the Blues' ageing midfield. A move to Stamford Bridge could see him emulate his countryman Makelele and become the anchor of Chelsea's midfield for years to come.

The former Blues star went on to tell The Sun how Kante should be aiming for the very top.

“I love the kind of player like that, who plays for the team," he said. "He arrived in a good way, now he wants to play in the Champions League. It’s another competition, another stress. He needs to get everything from every experience. He still has the same way of playing, the same happiness, but he needs to play in a big team.”

Kante's move away from the Foxes is surely now a matter of when and not if, and if his destination is Chelsea, the West London club could return to the top of the English game quicker than many predicted.
