Following Newcastle’s relegation into the Championship, it is widely expected that Sissoko will be leaving St. James’ Park this summer and the player himself admitted last month that he does not intend to ply his trade in the second tier of English football during the upcoming campaign.
The French international was speaking to Foot Mercato last month and admitted, "I gave everything there for three-and-a-half years. I hope that Newcastle will be smart enough to understand that to continue my development I need to keep playing at the highest level.
"As I want to stay in the France team I cannot stay in the Championship. There will be discussions. I want to leave."
Therefore, it has been no surprise whatsoever in seeing a number of clubs expressing their interest in signing Sissoko in recent times.
Now in surprise claims from Spanish publication Sport, even Premier League champions Leicester have joined the race to sign Sissoko.
Newcastle have reportedly (TalkSPORT) placed a £35 million asking price on Sissoko though and it will be interesting to see if Leicester will be ready to pay such a huge amount to sign the French international.
Will Sissoko be a good signing for Leicester?
