In a transfer story that seems to have rolled on for the whole summer, Tottenham finally completed the signing of AZ and Netherlands striker Vincent Janssen on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old top-scored in the Eredivisie last season with an astonishing 27 goals in 34 matches, netting 32 in 49 in all competitions, and his arrival at White Hart Lane has ended a long wait for Spurs to bring in a prolific striker as support and to play alongside Harry Kane.

With it being three years since the club last signed a specialised goalscorer, Roberto Soldado in 2013, it is a sign that Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino are committed to raising the quality throughout the squad.

Janssen is an attacker in form, scoring three goals in his first five internationals for the Dutch national team off the back of a stunning club season. With few alternatives for his national side, the striker is likely to establish himself in that position providing he gets sufficient football in North London.

The forward would have further endeared himself to Spurs fans ahead of his move by reportedly turning down moves to rivals West Ham, PSG and Wolfsburg because he had his heart set on Tottenham (Mirror).
