West Ham United are being credited with an interest in the signature of a talented young Belgian who currently plies his trade in French football, according to Foot Mercato.

Isaac Mbenza is apparently on the radar at West Ham after the impressive performances he delivered for his side Valenciennes last term.

He scored six goals in 35 league games in France’s second-tier last season, including four in his final three appearances.

The 20-year-old is therefore highly rated and the report from Foot Mercato also makes it clear Standard Liege are also interested in his signature.

The forward, who can play from the wing or through the middle, is a Belgian under-19 international and would represent a gamble for the future from The Hammers.

The report suggests West Ham have contacted his club about a move and any potential fee.

The Hammers, who had success with recruiting Diafra Sakho from Ligue 2 in the past, have already been active in the transfer market this summer.
