Tomas Kalas applauds the Middlesbrough fans
According to the Daily Mail, Middlesbrough are keen to sign Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas on loan for a third time this summer.
Boro have been active in the transfer market under manager Aitor Karanka, as goalkeeper Victor Valdes, defender Bernardo Espinosa, midfielder Marten de Roon and winger Viktor Fischer have all arrived at the Riverside Stadium so far following the club's promotion.
Ahead of Boro's return to the Premier League, Karanka will be hoping to snap up more new signings, but it's a familiar face who could be heading to Teesside this summer.
The Daily Mail report that Boro are hoping to sign Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas for a third time, having previously spent two loan spells at the Riverside Stadium.
Kalas, 23, has been on the books at Chelsea since joining from Sigma Olomouc in his native Czech Republic in 2010, but he's so far made just four first-team appearances for the Blues.
The Czech international, who can play at right back or centre back, has spent the last 18 months on loan with Boro, becoming an important player for Karanka with almost 50 appearances to his name.
Now, with little chance of playing in the Chelsea first team next season, Kalas could leave Stamford Bridge on loan yet again, and it's claimed that Boro are now targeting a third move for Kalas this summer.
Karanka is believed to want another season-long deal for Kalas, strengthening his defensive options again even after landing centre back Espinosa earlier this summer.
