Liverpool have taken a 16-year-old South American on trial.
Liverpool have invited Mauricio Quinonez to undergo a trial with the Premier League club.
Jurgen Klopp's side are currently in Germany continuing their pre-season preparations for the 2016-17 campaign and Quinonez is training with them.
The 16-year-old defender is one of Ecuador's hottest young prospects and his club, Independiente Valle, confirmed Liverpool's invitation on their official website
The South American went on to claim that Quinonez is a central defender with "great vision" for football. The trial will last 12 days.
It has been a good summer for Liverpool so far, with Klopp signing £30 million forward Sadio Mane, along with goalkeeper Loris Karius and centre-back Joel Matip.
Matip's arrival is unlikely to influence the club's decision regarding Quinonez. They play in the same position, but Quinonez would certainly be one for the future, should he join the Reds.
Liverpool finished eighth last season, but Klopp only replaced Brendan Rodgers in October. By September of this year, he will have had two transfer windows to put his mark on proceedings and they should certainly finish higher next term.
