Jack Grealish has left no doubt over where his future lies, after his comments on Aston Villa’s official website.
Grealish has been linked with a move to a range of Premier League sides this summer - with Stoke City, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton all said to be interested by the Telegraph.
However, the 20-year-old insists that he is not thinking about leaving, as he is so determined to get Villa back into the Premier League.
“I want to be a driving force for the team this season,” Grealish said. “I want to be one of the lads that the others look up to and get inspiration from.
“It helps with me being an attacking player because I can make things happen with goals and assists. I am not a shouter or screamer in the dressing room or out on the field but I hope to lead the team on with my performances.
“Me being a player and fan, it would mean the world to get my Club promoted. I know the fans have been hurting big-time so it would be important to do it for them. I want to see them smiling again.
“Coming into this season, I am desperate to help the Club get back into the Premier League.”
Grealish was one of a number of Villa players who badly underperformed last season.
The England youth international scored just once throughout the entirety of the campaign, and he fell out of favour when Remi Garde was in charge.
However, Grealish is still considered a very bright prospect - and the interest in him indicates how well regarded he is.
Grealish is expected to have a key role to play for Villa, as they aim to get promoted back to the top flight next term.
Villa’s season gets underway with a match against Fulham on August 5th.
