Leeds United have made six additions so far this summer.

New Leeds United boss Garry Monk has told the club’s official website that he will only bring a player to Elland Road if he believes they can aid the first-team squad.

Monk has brought in six new signings at Leeds this summer, but much of the positivity around the Yorkshire club has been eradicated due to the sale of Lewis Cook.

However, Monk is planning to make further additions over the coming weeks, as he looks to bring in further quality.

“All that matters to myself is that every player, whether they’re already here or are coming in, is a player that can help us; a player that can give something that we haven’t got or a player who can add to what we’ve already got, which is the case for all of them,” Monk said, when asked what type of players Leeds are trying to sign.

“There are a lot of games within the league that come very quickly and we’ve got to be prepared for that as a squad.

“The club understands that, the owner understands that – he’s been working very hard with myself to try and recruit these players, along with Ben Mansford as well. Everyone’s working together.

“We all know what we need. I’ve made it very clear from my side and the club have made it very clear from theirs.

“We know what we need to do and what we need to add, it’s about making sure that whoever comes in adds quality to what we’ve already got. That’s the most important bit.”

Leeds summer recruitment drive has seen them sign up Hadi Sacko, Kyle Bartley, Matt Grimes, Rob Green, Marcus Antonsson and Kemar Roofe.

The Whites have been one of the more active teams in the Championship so far, and it is believed that Monk is still looking to add another centre-back to his squad before the close of the transfer window.

Leeds have expressed a desire to make it into the top six next season, as they look to finally return to the Premier League.

Monk’s men are currently on a pre-season tour of Ireland, where they are being put through their paces before the start of the new campaign.
