Everton are reportedly set to attempt to hijack any approach from Sunderland to bring in their former loanee Yann M’Vila – according to a report from Foot Mercato in France.

The French international spent last term on loan at Sunderland and helped them fight off relegation once again – playing a pivotal role in the club’s survival.

Now however it is being reported by the publication that Everton are considering swooping for the player, as Sunderland are struggling to reach an agreement with his Russian club Rubin Kazan.

Everton are looking to strengthen their midfield under new manager Ronald Koeman this summer and it appears M’Vila is in that reckoning.

Sunderland will of course be desperate to keep the player. He featured 40 times for the club last season, scoring just once, but proving himself a capable performer in the Premier League.

Everton are looking for midfield reinforcements after the departure of Leon Osman and after the poor performances of several players last term.

M’Vila ticks the boxes for many aspects of the game Koeman will expect from his Everton players and it would be a good piece of business if they do beat Sunderland to his signature.
