Botaka hails Garry Monk and Leeds coaches

The new Leeds United boss and his appointments have already made an impression on the 23-year-old.

Speaking to LUTV, Leeds United forward Jordan Botaka has revealed that Garry Monk and his coaching staff's willingness to work closely with every single player in the senior squad is perhaps the most impressive thing about the new backroom team at Thorp Arch.

He replaced Steve Evans as Leeds manager this summer and the 38-year-old has brought in Pep Clotet as his assistant and James Beattie as first-team coach - both of whom he worked with at former club Swansea City.

At 38, Monk is relatively inexperienced as far as football management goes, having spent less than two years in charge of the Welsh club prior to his sacking last December in what was his only managerial position before joining the Whites.

But despite Monk's limited experience, Botaka, on the books at eight different clubs before signing for United in 2015, says that the young manager and his behind-the-scenes staff have impressed him for how hands-on they are, taking a keen interest in every player rather than focusing on the higher-profile ones.

"They try to know every player individually. They're really interested in every player and that's something you don't see often," the 23-year-old told LUTV when asked what has impressed him most about Monk and his staff.

"I've been to many clubs and you can see that the interest is more in the players who would play more often. But now [at Leeds] they really want to know everyone very well and they really want to work with everyone."

Monk and co face Republic of Ireland sides Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers in pre-season friendlies in Dublin over the next few days, before kicking off their Championship campaign with a trip to QPR on August 7.
