According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are now looking at alternatives, after deeming Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to be overpriced.

In this article, we take a look at three players who Spurs could go for instead.

Dusan Tadic (Southampton)

Dusan Tadic celebrates scoring the third goal for Southampton

Tadic was one of Southampton’s stars last season, as they mounted a push for Europe.

The Serbian international contributed with 12 assists, and would be a good fit for a side managed by Mauricio Pochettino.

Tadic is willing to contribute to the defensive side of the game, and has great energy to go with his obvious ability in possession.

Southampton have already lost a number of their top performers this summer, but if Tottenham could do a deal for Tadic, he would make an impressive addition.

Isco (Real Madrid)

If Tottenham really want to announce themselves as title contenders, then the arrival of Isco at White Hart Lane would certainly do that.

Tottenham would have to invest a sizeable amount of funds if they did want to land Isco, but the transfer is far from impossible.

Isco has failed to land a permanent spot in Real Madrid’s side, due to Zinedine Zidane’s side’s wealth of attacking talent, and could be available at the right price.

Spurs would be wise to make a move, as Isco’s arrival at White Hart Lane would really capture the imagination of their supporters, ahead of the new season.

Adam Lallana (Liverpool)

England's Adam Lallana

This is the rumour that won’t go away, even though a transfer seems a long way off at the moment.

Liverpool insist that they want to keep Lallana, but it’s fair to say that he hasn’t entirely won over all the supporters at Anfield.

Tottenham boss Pochettino, however, is known to be a huge fan of the England international, having worked with him at Southampton.

If the Lilywhites did make a firm offer for Lallana, it would be interesting to see whether Liverpool would be willing to do a deal with Spurs - and allow an exciting reunion to take place.
