Tottenham Hotspur appear to be closing in on another new signing.

Vincent Janssen scores the first goal for the Netherlands from the penalty spot

According to a report from Voetbal International, Tottenham Hotspur have scheduled a press conference for this Tuesday (12 July) to announce the signing of striker Vincent Janssen.

The Dutch international has been linked with a move to Spurs for much of the summer. However it seems the wheels are turning quicker in recent hours after the player allegedly flew to London with his representatives to complete a deal.

The report from Voetbal International claims the deal will be worth an initial £17million with the prospect of add-ons meaning the final amount could come closer to £19million.

That is still a good price for a player who scored 32 goals and provided seven assists in 49 appearances for AZ Alkmaar last season.

If he can replicate that form at Tottenham he will be an instant hit and he will also ease the pressure on Harry Kane, whose performances at Euro 2016 proved he is in need of a rest.

The report goes on to claim that the exact length of contract has not yet been decided but that it is expected to be a five-year deal with the option of a sixth.

Assuming Janssen does ultimately arrive at Tottenham he will become the club’s second signing of the summer after Victor Wanyama.
