Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to meet the transfer fee for Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to The Mirror.
According to The Mirror, Newcastle want as much as £25 million in order to part company with the 25-year-old Netherlands international.
“Wijnaldum, who signed a five-year deal when he arrived last summer and scored 11 league goals in his debut season, has been left frustrated at the impasse,” adds the report in The Mirror.
“He is ready to make his own case in the hope he can convince Newcastle chiefs to soften their stance.”
Wijnaldum did not have a great 2015-16 campaign for Newcastle, but there were moments when he looked superb.
The former Feyenoord and PSV star had a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 71%, and won 25 headers, 50 dribbles and 31 tackles.
While Wijnaldum is a very good midfielder and has proven himself in the Premier League, he is not worth £25m, especially as he is currently a Championship player.
If Newcastle want to sell the Dutch this summer, then they must lower their (reported) transfer fee demand.
