France's Moussa Sissoko shoots at goal

The Manchester United boss might turn to the Newcastle United machine, say reports.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has identified Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has a back-up option if he cannot lure Paul Pogba from Juventus, , according to Le10 Sport.

Sissoko's profile has shot up over the past 24 hours after the 26-year-old put in a fine performance for France during their 1-0 Euro 2016 final defeat by Portugal last night.

The Newcastle man was arguably his country's best player on a night in which the likes of Dimitri Payet, Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann struggled for an influence.

Pogba did also not look at his best, but the Juventus midfielder has, according to The Mirror, been linked with a world-record £100 million switch to Manchester United lately despite a few indifferent performances in the competition this summer.

The 23-year-old, whose senior career began at Manchester United, is still one of Europe's finest young midfielders. The Sun reported that Mourinho would axe as many as eight players in order to fund the mega-money deal for the Frenchman.

But should he fail to bring him back to Old Trafford, Le10 Sport claim that the Portuguese manager will then turn his attention toward the Newcastle winger, whose pace and power caused Portugal no end of problems in Paris last night.

He would not cost £100 million, but talkSPORT said earlier today that the Magpies - set to compete in the Championship next term - will demand some £35 million if they are to sell him.
