Olivier Bernard has suggested to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on the 11th July, that Moussa Sissoko will not find it difficult to leave Newcastle United this summer.
Sissoko has caught the eye with his performances at Euro 2016, and he was arguably his nation’s star player in the final of the tournament.
Although France lost 1-0 to Portugal, Sissoko came out of the final with his reputation enhanced - meaning that there is likely to be rising interest in midfielder.
Newcastle are currently understood to be weighing up whether to sell the Frenchman, who has been very inconsistent for them.
Sissoko has shown glimpses of ability since moving to St. James’ Park, but he has never managed to entirely win over the fan-base.
And Bernard, who used to play for the Magpies, said: “The Newcastle fans are funny. All season they wanted him out, and now he plays where he’s feeling comfortable.
“When he plays with better players, he gets better. He will get better. I don’t think the fans will hold him. After what he’s heard it will be very easy for him to leave Newcastle.”
Sissoko has previously stated a desire to play in the Champions League, meaning it is unlikely that he will be satisfied with having to play Championship football.
However, Newcastle are under no pressure to sell players this summer - and it is likely that a big money fee will be required to persuade Rafael Benitez’s to allow the 26-year-old to leave.
