Liverpool were 1-0 winners during their pre-season friendly with Tranmere on Friday.
Tranmere Rovers received some encouragement from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after the two sides met in a pre-season friendly on Friday night at Prenton Park.
Danny Ings' goal settled the contest as the Reds were 1-0 winners, but Klopp was complimentary about his fifth-tier opponents.
Tranmere boss Gary Brabin, told the club's website: "Jurgen Klopp was very complimentary after the game on Friday and said he could not believe we were in the fifth tier of English football after the way we played. He was pleasantly surprised by the standard. We have a good group of players."
Liverpool were certainly made to work for their win in their opening pre-season game, surviving a scare where the home side hit the woodwork in the first half, and their winner only came in the closing stages of the game.
Klopp admitted he would like a difficult pre-season so things are not so tricky for his team when they commence their Premier League campaign against Arsenal on August 14.
Tranmere will be trying to get themselves back into the Football League for the season ahead after finishing in sixth place in their first season in the National League - two points outside the play-off places - and Brabin thinks his side can be a real force going into the new season if they can maintain their performance from the second half of last term.
