Valencia's Antonio Barragan in action
According to Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague, Middlesbrough are hoping to snap up Valencia defender Antonio Barragan this summer.
Boro have swooped to land Victor Valdes, Bernardo Espinosa, Marten de Roon and Viktor Fischer so far this summer, but manager Aitor Karanka will be keen to add more new faces upon the club's return to the Premier League.
Having won promotion last term, Boro will be looking to survive in the top flight next season, and Karanka appears keen to bring in some more fellow Spaniards.
Spanish stars Valdes, Tomas Mejias and Daniel Ayala will all be in the Boro squad next term, whilst Emilio Nsue - who plays for Equatorial Guinea at international level - was born in Spain, meaning there is a strong Spanish contingent at the Riverside Stadium.
Now, Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has not only taken to Twitter to claim that Boro want to sign Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo, but also revealed interest in another Spanish player.
Balague, as seen below, claims that Boro want to bring Valencia defender Antonio Barragan to Teesside this summer as Karanka considers options to strengthen his back line.
Barragán (also Valencia) is wanted by Boro too. He is what we call, an essential middle class within a team. Not done yet.— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) July 10, 2016
Barragan, 29, has already had one short spell in the Premier League with Liverpool having signed from Sevilla in 2005, but lasted just one year before moves to Deportivo La Coruna, Real Valladolid and now Valencia.
The right back has made almost 150 appearances for Valencia, and would represent a dependable, experienced option for Middlesbrough - and if Balague is right, a double raid on Valencia could be on the cards for Boro, with Barragan and Negredo targeted.
