The agent of Christian Benteke has dismissed reports that suggest his client is due to leave Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.

Recent reports – by the likes of the Mirror – have suggested that personal terms have been agreed between the striker and Crystal Palace, with a deal expected to be completed this week.

However, Benteke's agent Kismet Eris is quoted as saying by Sky Sports that there is ‘nothing in the reports’, and he has pointed out that the Belgian is just one year into a five-year contract.

The comments will come as a disappointment to Alan Pardew and Palace who are looking to add firepower to their front line.

Benteke has struggled at Anfield since his move from Aston Villa last summer, and the arrival of Klopp has only made matters worse.

The powerful, target-man isn’t ideally suited to Klopp’s high pressing system and as such has failed to establish himself in the starting lineup.

The Mirror’s report claims that the Reds are holding out for the £32 million they paid for his services and they will do very well to achieve that considering his showing last season.

Given that there appears to be no place for Benteke in Klopp’s plans, a compromise must surely be made for the benefit of all parties.
