Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he does not want to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

According to a report in The Glasgow Evening Times last week, Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing Ambrose from Celtic this summer.

It was reported that the Nigeria international defender is high on the German club’s transfer list.

It was also claimed that Bayer, who finished third in the Bundesliga last season and will feature in the Champions League during the 2016-17 campaign, could make a bid of £1.5 million to secure the services of the 27-year-old.

However, Ambrose, who can play as a centre-back or as a right-back, has revealed that he wants to remain at Celtic.

The former Kaduna United and Ashdod defender has also shared his love for the Scottish Premiership giants.

“For me, Celtic is a place I really love and I want to be part of it,” Ambrose told The Glasgow Evening Times. “There is no place like home – and Celtic is home for me. I’m ready to do everything to remain here and continue playing here.”

Ambrose has been on the books of Glasgow giants Celtic since 2012 and is a decent defender.

However, the Nigeria international defender is prone to making mistakes, and he cannot always be relied upon.
