Portugal got the better of home nation France 1-0 in extra time in the final of the prestigious European competition on Sunday evening.
Eder’s stunning goal in the 109th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides at Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
Wednesday manager Carvalhal was following the match, and he was pleased with his country’s achievement.
The 50-year-old former central defender also criticised Dimitri Payet for his tackle on Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half of the encounter.
The West Ham United attacking midfielder made what appeared to be a rough tackle on the Real Madrid forward in the first half of the game.
Ronaldo suffered a knee injury as a result of the tackle and had to be stretched off soon after.
During the match, Portugal had 44% of the possession, took 10 shots of which just three were on target, and earned five corners.
France had 56% of the possession, took 18 shots of which seven were on target, and earned nine corners.
