The former Everton man signed for the Baggies in 2013, yet after three seasons of struggling to break in to the first-team picture he was released last May alongside teammate Stephane Sessegnon.
Anichebe, 28, may not have had a prolific career at Premier League level but he still possesses quality in the final third with his best attributes being his strength, power and athleticism.
It’s hard to envisage another top-flight side taking a gamble on him this summer, therefore his most likely destination will be the Championship where a number of teams may see him as an ideal option.
As per the latest odds published by BetVictor, a host of second tier sides are listed as potential options such as Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Hove Albion, Leeds United and Huddersfield Town.
However, the three favourites all listed at 4/1 odds to bring him in are Wolves, Derby and Birmingham.
Wolves didn’t enjoy the best of campaigns last season, and they certainly lost a huge presence upfront when they opted to sell Benik Afobe to Bournemouth during the January transfer window.

The Molineux side could be a good fit for Anichebe who will be keen to play regular first-team football, yet fellow Midlands side Birmingham are also light up top and need to strengthen this summer.
Derby, however, is a bit of a strange one considering newly-appointed manage Nigel Pearson has inherited a big squad with plenty of firepower such as Chris Martin, Darren Bent, Andreas Weimann and Nick Blackman.
If anything, the Rams need to trim their squad ahead of the new season rather than add to it, while Anichebe would arguably struggle to remove Martin from that lone forward role nonetheless.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the ex-West Brom man, but a move to Black Country neighbors Wolves could make plenty of sense for both parties.
