Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has written in The Mirror that Manchester United should not spend £100 million on Paul Pogba in the summer transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, United are in talks to sign Pogba from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the transfer fee that the Red Devils would have to pay to secure the services of the midfielder this summer could be as much as £100m.

Interestingly, Pogba was on the books of United from 2009 until 2012 before he left Old Trafford to join Italian giants Juventus on a free transfer.

Former Liverpool striker Collymore believes that the Juventus midfielder is not worth £100m.

The former England international has stated that instead of recruiting Pogba, United should sign his France international teammates N’Golo Kante and Dimitri Payet.

Kante, a defensive midfielder, is on the books of Premier League champions Leicester City at the moment, while attacking midfielder Payet currently plays for West Ham United.

“The smarter move from Mourinho would be to sign two other members of the France team who’ll take on Portugal in the Euro 2016 final on Sunday night – N’Golo Kante and Dimitri Payet instead,” Collymore wrote in The Mirror.

“Because what United need is to be good in the here and now of this season and, while I have no doubt Pogba could become one of the best midfielders on the planet in time, I don’t think he’d guarantee the immediate success in the way those two would.”

Pogba, Kante and Payet are all playing for France at the ongoing 2016 European Championship.

France will take on Portugal in the final of the prestigious competition at Stade de France in Saint-Denis on Sunday evening.
