Netherlands striker Vincent Janssen celebrates
According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen is flying over to London today in order to put the final touches to his move to Tottenham.
Janssen, 22, was the major success story of the Eredivisie season, as having joined AZ from Almere City, he smashed a total of 27 league goal - finishing as the Eredivisie's top goalscorer - whilst adding two goals in other competitions too.
Three goals in five caps for the Netherlands have again demonstrated just how good Janssen can be in front of goal, and his exploits have triggered major interest in his signature.
Voetbalzone reported on Thursday that Tottenham had agreed a fee with AZ for the player having already had one bid for the player rejected as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to bring in a new striker to support Harry Kane.
Now, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf report that Tottenham's deal is worth €22m (£18.75m), and the player was flying to London earlier today in order to complete his move to White Hart Lane.
It's claimed that, on Monday, Janssen will finalise his contract negotiations with Spurs and undergo a medical, before being presented as Tottenham's second summer signing after the arrival of midfielder Victor Wanyama.
The report adds that Janssen was adamant that he wanted to be included in Tottenham's tour to Australia later this month, and whilst he would surely be expected to travel anyway given that the trip is just two weeks away, Janssen wants to get to know his Spurs team-mates quickly and prepare for the new season.
After mixed results from former Eredivisie top scorers in the Premier League, Spurs will be praying that Janssen is more Ruud van Nistelrooy or Luis Suarez, rather than another Mateja Kezman or Afonso Alves.
Do you think Janssen will be a good signing for Tottenham?
