According to a report in the Chronicle, Sunderland’s main priority this summer is to sign a new right-back.

The Black Cats have been frustrated in the transfer window so far, and they are still yet to make a new signing.

However, Sam Allardyce has not given up hope - and he wants some fresh faces to join his squad before the new Premier League campaign starts up.

Sunderland had looked to have done a deal for Davide Santon, but that move fell through at the last minute - meaning their search for a right-back continues.

Sunderland currently have Billy Jones able to play on the right hand side of their defence, but their other options are looking weak.

Sunderland could return for Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin, who was on loan at the Stadium of Light last term, or they could seek out a replacement elsewhere.

Either way, Sunderland are said to be desperate to land a new right-back, with Allarydce currently seeing the position as a weak spot in his squad.
