Christian Benteke celebrates scoring for Liverpool
Palace have already secured the likes of Steve Mandanda, James Tomkins and Andros Townsend this summer, but manager Alan Pardew isn't done just yet - and a new striker is top of his wish list.
The Mirror now claim that Palace are close to signing Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, and have agreed personal terms with the Belgian ahead of a possible move to Selhurst Park.
Benteke, 25, had smashed 49 goals in 101 games for Aston Villa, earning a huge move to Anfield last summer - but he failed to make an impression under Brendan Rodgers or Jurgen Klopp, scoring just ten goals in 42 games for Liverpool last season.
Clearly out of favour under Klopp, Benteke now looks set to leave Merseyside this summer and seek regular first-team football elsewhere, with Palace seemingly his destination of choice.
The report claims that Benteke is now 'desperate' to join Palace having agreed personal terms with Pardew's men, and a deal could even go through this week - possibly as early as Monday.
Liverpool want to recoup the £32m fee they paid for Benteke a year ago, and whilst no fee has been agreed with Palace just yet, all parties are believed to be confident of striking a deal this week.
Having seen strikers Connor Wickham, Fraizer Campbell and Dwight Gayle struggle for regular goals in the Premier League, Benteke will be a welcome boost to the Eagles side - and Pardew will be hoping that Benteke can replicate his Aston Villa success if he does arrive in South London.
