The Championship stormed to a comfortable win in Austria.
Fans of all clubs have taken to Twitter to congratulate Stiliyan Petrov after the midfielder made his return to the Aston Villa first-team for their pre-season friendly with Austrian side Gak four years after being diagnosed with leukaemia.
The Bulgarian had announced his retirement from professional football three years ago following his battle with the illness, but he disclosed earlier this year that he was planning to return to the game, and he returned to training with the Villains' first-team just last week.
Incredibly, Petrov was able to play 45 minutes of the club's game on Saturday. And while he did not get on the scoresheet in the emphatic 8-0 win, there is no doubt who the hero of the game was.
And as well as the messages of support for Petrov following his comeback, his return was met with many supporters expressing their hope that he continues to play a part in the club's pre-season preparations and perhaps gets the opportunity to help Roberto Di Matteo's side as they look to get promoted from the Championship at the first time of asking.
Here is the best of the reaction following Petrov's return...
