French media outlet L'Equipe understand that Barcelona have joined Liverpool and Roma in the race for Paris Saint-Germain's highly rated left-back Lucas Digne.
Jürgen Klopp is reportedly keen on bringing the 22-year-old Frenchman to Anfield, but with Barcelona and Roma providing competition for his signature, it will be a challenging deal to get across the line.
The Reds are short of quality personnel in the left-back position, and the potential acquisition of Digne would greatly improve Klopp's options.
L'Equipe's report goes on to suggest that the Catalan giants have contacted the player's representatives, but the role they are offering Digne is that of a squad player, while Liverpool are prepared to make him their first choice left-back.
It would be extremely hard for any player to ignore the overtures of a club the size of Barcelona, and Liverpool's chance on signing Digne could hinge on how ambitious he perceives the club to be.
Having a man of Klopp's calibre and reputation at the helm, however, surely makes the Reds an even bigger draw than they were before his arrival at the club.
Liverpool fans will be hoping the German can work his magic and charm Digne to Anfield, and if they were to be successful in the chase for his signature, they would instantly become a far stronger side defensively.
