Victor Wanyama has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at making his debut for Tottenham Hotspur.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder featured for Tottenham in a pre-season friendly match against Championship club Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Kenya international started the behind-closed-doors friendly game at Hotspur Way in central midfield alongside Ryan Mason.

Premier League outfit Tottenham won the match 3-0, thanks to goals from Son Heung-min, Tom Carroll and Alex Pritchard.

Wanyama has taken to Twitter to express his delight at getting back to playing football after a break following the end of the 2015-16 season.

Wanyama joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.

According to The London Evening Standard, Spurs had to pay the Saints a transfer fee of £11 million in order to secure the services of the Kenya international this summer.

The North London outfit are reportedly going to pay Wanyama a weekly salary of £55,000 on a five-year contract.

Tottenham, who will feature in the Champions League next season, will be aiming to win the Premier League title during the 2016-17 campaign.
