Speaking to Sky Sports, Petr Cech has said it is great that Arsenal take on Liverpool in the first game of the season.

The Gunners are looking to challenge for the Premier League title this year after the disappointment of last season.

They finished second last year, which many have labelled as a poor for them given Leicester City ended up winning the title.

They will want a strong start to the season if they are to challenge again in what is likely to be a highly competitive Premier League season.

The fixture list has not been kind though, handing them an opening game clash with Liverpool. Some have seen that as a negative, but Cech insists it is actually a great opportunity for them.

"It's great to really have a test in the first game and then you can kick on your season if you start it the right way," he told Sky Sports.

"Liverpool will be one of those teams who will want to challenge for the title, having played well with Jurgen Klopp after his arrival.”

The goalkeeper has stated that he believes next season will be a exciting one given the host of changes at the big clubs.

Manchester United have Jose Mourinho, Manchester City have Pep Guardiola, while Antonio Conte has taken over at Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino will look to build on their success at Liverpool and Tottenham too, and Cech is expecting an exciting season as a result.

"We expect a big challenge because [Manchester] United have been improving their squad,” he added.

"Manchester City with their new manager will do the same thing and let's not forget Liverpool and Spurs. Chelsea will definitely be there with Antonio Conte.”
