The German 'keeper signed from Mainz earlier this summer as Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to secure his signature.
He had to wait until Friday to make his debut though, with his manager opting to hand him his debut in the pre-season friendly with Tranmere Rovers.

It proved to be a happy debut for him too, as he not only kept a clean sheet but also saw his side claim their first victory of the summer courtesy of Danny Ings' solitary goal.
And following the game, Karius offered his reaction to his debut on social networking site Twitter.
The German goalkeeper will now be hoping that his first appearance of the summer is the first of many next season.
His arrival at the club has been warmly welcomed, with many fans keen to see him replace Simon Mignolet as number one in the upcoming campaign.
If that is to happen he will first need to impress his new manager in pre-season and a clean sheet on his debut was a good manner in which to start.
