Juventus Director Beppe Marotta has revealed that Arsenal do not wish to sell their star man
Not for sale: Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez
Juventus Director Beppe Marotta has told Chilean newspaper El Mercurio that Arsenal will not sell Alexis Sanchez to the Italian champions, despite the Premier League club quoting the club a price of €40 million.
The Arsenal talisman has been rumoured to be considering his future at the Emirates after a disappointing season in North London, one that saw the Gunners fail in their attempt to provide a credible challenge to Premier League champions Leicester City.
Juventus are thought to be interested in the player, who previously played in Serie A for Udinese before joining Barcelona.
Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus have been pursuing Sanchez
However, they have had a set back in their pursuit of the Chilean icon, with the Gunners telling the Old Lady that they do not wish to sell one of their most prized assets.
“Arsenal told us Alexis Sanchez is not on the market,” Marotta told El Mercurio.
“Sanchez is a great player, but Arsenal told us he is not on the market,
“We had asked for the player’s price-tag and Arsenal valued him at €40m, a sum that we considered reasonable.
“However, once we replied to their demand, the English club let us know that he was not for sale.”
Alexis Sanchez in action for Arsenal
Sanchez joined Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014 for a fee reported to be in the region of £31.7 million.
He has since become an irreplaceable figure at the Emirates, making 65 league appearances and scoring an impressive 29 goals.
Chile retained their Copa America crown this summer
Sanchez has recently returned to London Colney after spending the past month in the United States with the Chilean national side, who retained their Copa America title with a penalty shootout win over Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
