Amorebieta joined Fulham from Spanish side Athletic Bilbao back in the summer of 2013 and many believed at the time that the defender would prove to be a very good signing for the Cottagers.

As it turned out though, Amorebieta struggled to adapt to life in England and was unable to prevent Fulham from suffering the ignominy of relegation from the Premier League during the debut campaign.

The following season in the Championship would prove to be even worse for Amorebieta as he made only 7 appearances due to a knee injury.

Last season proved to be somewhat of an improvement for the 31-year-old as he returned from his loan spell from Middlesbrough in February and played a crucial role in helping the Cottagers stave off relegation.

Despite Amorebieta’s admission of wanting to leave though, he has surprisingly been included in the Fulham squad for their training camp to the Republic of Ireland and the former Venezuelan international has seemingly dropped a huge hint that he might stay put at the club by expressing his excitement ahead of the tour through social media website Twitter.

He posted,

Fulham fans were understandably left encouraged by Amorebieta’s tweet and have pleaded for the experienced centre back to stay with the club this summer.
