Matip has joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window on a free after leaving German club Schalke at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The 24-year-old defender has started training with the Reds’ squad, and England international full-back Flanagan, who is 23 years of age, has been impressed.
Flanagan has also spoken highly of new Liverpool signings Loris Karius and Marko Grujic.
“They are all good lads who are settling in well,” Flanagan told The Liverpool Echo while discussing Matip, Karius and Grujic. “Matip is a big lad who is great on the ball. They all seem top players.”
Matip scored three goals and created 12 chances in 34 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke during the 2015-16 season
The Cameroon international central defender had a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 30%, and won 117 headers, 12 dribbles and 44 tackles.
The 24-year-old is a very good defender, and he should prove to be a good signing for Liverpool.
The Reds have already started pre-season training, as Jurgen Klopp’s side prepare for the upcoming 2016-17 campaign.
Liverpool will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League next season and qualify for the Champions League.
