Indeed, there has been talk that he may make a move for him this summer, with Le 10 Sport claiming a £40 million bid could be on the cards. Bilic insists that Payet is very much a Hammers man though after texting him for the last three weeks.

“I understand that with his success, all the speculation about his future will follow,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I would love him to stay at West Ham. We have texted each other over the last three weeks and he is happy at the club. He is our player.”

Bilic’s comments will certainly be welcomed by the West Ham faithful, who may have been secretly worrying about Payet’s future this summer.

His performances in France have not gone unnoticed, and after a strong first season in the Premier League also, it would not be surprising if big clubs were keen on his signature.
