With the summer transfer window now open, Tottenham Hotspur fans should get used to a whole host of rumours relating to their club.

Although Victor Wanyama has already arrived from Southampton for a cut-price fee, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is sure to bring in more reinforcements with additional options needed up front and on the wing.

Here we take a look at the top five players to have been linked with Tottenham this week:

Vincent Janssen (Algemenn Dagbald)

The AZ Alkmaar striker continues to be linked with a move to Tottenham but until a deal is done Spurs fans will be forgiven for keeping their excitement to a minimum.

This one has run and run and while it is now being suggested a deal could be completed by the end of the week, fans of the North London club have heard that before.

Georginio Wijnaldum scores the third goal for Newcastle from the penalty spot

Georginio Wijnaldum (The Telegraph)

Recently relegated with Newcastle United, Wijnaldum is now being linked with a swift return to the Premier League with a move to White Hart Lane.

At his best he is a fine option but it remains to be seen where he would fit into Pochettino’s starting line-up if he did arrive.

Jonas Hector (

A great player no doubt, but the German international is not what Tottenham need right now.

They already have two quality left-backs on their books while Hector’s ability to play as a holding midfielder matters little following the arrival of Wanyama and the presence of Eric Dier.

Roberto Pereyra (Tuttosport)

Another attacking midfielder linked with Spurs is Juventus player Roberto Pereyra.

The versatile 25-year-old would also offer additional options on the wing yet with a contract until the summer of 2020 he would not come cheap.

Mauro Icardi (Correire dello Sport - print edition)

This is the deal many Tottenham fans will hope gets over the line in due course.

The 23-year-old centre forward currently plays for Inter Milan and he has the talent to take White Hart Lane by storm.

His 16 goals in 34 matches last season are just a hint of what he is capable of.
