Sunderland could have a busy few months in the transfer market.
Sunderland fans will be keen for their manager Sam Allardyce to significantly strengthen the side this season, so it is no surprise to see a whole host of names linked with the Black Cats in the last few days.
Here we take a look at five players who have recently been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light.
DeAndre Yedlin (Northern Echo)
The Tottenham Hotspur full-back continues to be linked with Sunderland, with the latest reports suggesting Spurs are holding out for £6million for the USA international.
That said, it is being claimed Sunderland are confident a compromise can be met after initially offering closer to £3million for a player who impressed on loan last season.
This one came out of nowhere, with the former Aston Villa midfielder pictured training with Sunderland ahead of the new campaign.
No deal has yet been agreed but talk is that if he impresses he could be offered the chance to stay and turn his faltering career around.
Frederic Guilbert (France Football)
Sunderland are said to be tracking Bordeaux full-back Frederic Guilbert although they may be willing to wait until January before making their move.
The 21-year-old is a free agent in 2017 so Sunderland will know that biding their time could lead to the best result from a financial perspective.
Clement Grenier (Sunderland Echo)
According to Lyon’s chairman, Sunderland have bid for Clement Grenier this summer.
The 25-year-old midfielder possesses plenty of talent but he has not had the best of times recently and a move would make sense at this stage of his career.
Vincente Iborra (El Desmarque)
Sunderland are said to be willing to pay £8.2million for Sevilla midfielder Vincente Iborra.
The 28-year-old featured 47 times for the La Liga club last season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in the process, and his importance to Sevilla means it would be a shock if he moved on this summer.
