The Spaniard has already brought in three new signings, with Matz Sels, Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle all joining the club.

There has been one major departure too as Andros Townsend elected to return to the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

It has been suggested that several other stars will seek exits also and Frenchman Sissoko is one of them.

The club are not keen to lose him though and according the Chronicle Benitez has told the board that he does not want to see him leave.

They report that only a ‘astronomical’ up front offer for the midfielder would tempt the club into a deal, with them expecting bids of more than £20 million.

So far no offers have come in the midfielder, and at that price it is hard to imagine that any suitors would view it as a deal worth pursuing.
