Arsenal have touched base over signing the defender, according to reports.
The 23-year-old full-back has courted interest from a host of Premier League clubs it seems, with The Mirror reporting last week that Southampton - now managed by French manager Claude Puel - were plotting a move for the versatile defender.
But it seems the same might be true of another French manager in Arsene Wenger who, according to L'Equipe, has made bringing Sidibe to the Emirates Stadium this summer his priority.
The report claims that Monaco were close to sealing a £12.8 million deal for the player but it appears as if Arsenal are now in the driving seat, with the North London club in contact with the player, according to the French publication.
Arsenal could do with a bit more competition in the full-back roles.
Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal are excellent, but the same cannot be said to their respective understudies - Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs.
Debuchy, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bordeaux, might well leave, which leaves Wenger needing to bolster his options.
Sidibe is contracted to Lille until 2019.
