Speaking to the club’s official website, Josh Windass has commented on his Glasgow Rangers debut.

The youngster is one of eight new signings at Ibrox this summer as Mark Warburton has been busy in the transfer window.

Several of those new faces are currently with the group in America as they get their pre-season schedule underway. They started with a friendly against Charleston Battery on Wednesday in which the Gers ran out as 2-1 winners.

Windass made his debut in the game, scoring one of his side’s goals, and says putting on the Gers shirt for the first time was a special moment for him.

“To put the Rangers shirt on for the first time was a very special moment for me,” he told

“It’s only a friendly game so you can’t take too much from that but to score and play quite well was nice.”

Windass will now be hoping to further impress in pre-season to try and securing a starting role for the side next season.

With Niko Kranjcar and Joey Barton also arriving at the club, the 22-year-old faces a fight to get regular minutes in the Scottish Premiership next year.

However, Mark Warburton has shown his willingness to give youth a chance in the past and Windass will be hoping he can impress enough in pre-season to earn himself a place.
