The president of Italian side Crotone has admitted that he is interested in signing Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, quoted by The Mirror.

The 25-year-old has also reportedly interested Sampdoria but Raffaele Vrenna revealed he wants him at Crotone, who are gearing up for their first ever top-flight season in Italian football next term.

“I made a phone call to agent Mino Raiola for Balotelli," he told Gazzetta Dello Sport, via The Mirror.

“Crotone are the ideal environment for young talent to grow and express themselves.

“We could be the right place to revive an incredible talent like that of Balotelli, who has unfortunately just experienced a couple of difficult seasons.”

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers

The Italy international has never played under manager Jurgen Klopp, having spent last season on loan at AC Milan, and he most probably never will.

It seems a long time ago now that then-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers spent £16 million to bring him to Anfield, but it was only two years ago.

The former Manchester City hitman endured a horrendous first season with Liverpool and did not fare much better during his loan at Milan - who sold him to the Premier League side in 2014 - last term.

His links with the likes of Sampdoria and Crotone sum up his dramatic dip in form over the past couple of years. Balotelli was rated very highly for a long time but it would appear as if the controversial striker has failed to justify his potential.
